Those damn kids and their $3000 back packs....

The New York Times recently produced a short film about the wealthy teenagers in the LA area and their shopping habits.....Can any of the Cali. employees relate to these kids?

Check the video, its short, and a sobering assessment of the state of moral dissrepair in the L.A. highschool fashion game.

Corsten rocks Commanders...and Fur

S0 I got 25 minutes to get from Drums Unlimited in College Park, Maryland to Dupont Circle and I have a gay pride day parade to deal with to boot. As I come hammering down sixteenth street at about 70, my wife yells "Speed Camera!" (the limit is 25) then flash flash flash...another $50 bucks offered to the beuracatic peons of the DC gov't. But I don't really care...I got one of the hottest DJs on the planet spinning at Comanders and he needs his mixer. I had a car full of all kinds of machines with knobs and switches but I needed that goddam mixer and the only place was DJ Hut in Dupont Circle (Dupont Circle is ground zero for the Gay prid parade). As we pulled up on P street to the spot, the car was surrounded by a mix of characters that was a sexy-homo-hybrid of marti gras vs. la cage aux faux vs. a capital hill page convention, as 'the family' had come from all over the country to march for Pride. The mood was positive and the boys were pimpin it right. I tear up stairs...pause to add to the already Krink and sticker covered walls (thanks to Izzy's gift of a monster purple Krink Marker), rush inside and get that mixer.
When I arrived in Georgetown, the staff at commander was already hitting on all cylinders. Amanda, Ty, Amir and company had the store looking great and the AC was now working which was a good thing. Dave of M street had just landed from Boston and was hauling ass from IAD to Georgetown to make sense of the NASA grade electronics that had to be hooked together using miles of cables...and boom, just like that, all was ready.
The event was to be a trunk show for iKY clothing, a local brand with national cred for edgy designs and amazing fit. Scion was on hand too, the whip looked right and had a killer soundsystem that you could hear inside the store as the two Mikes from Scion had it cranked to 11. A lot of people stopped to peep that car. I must say the ride looked right, and had a great openess inside that made you feel like you were not in a car at all.
The crowds started forming around 7pm as Kreamdip spun and huge 808 thumps that rattled the glass. The 'Ferry Corsten' iKY shirts were hung from the wall behind the booth and people were grabbing them fast and steady. By the time Ferry showed up, the spot had a nice lather going, and when he started to spin, the place lit up. Throngs of people gathered outside trying to squeeze through the door. A tourist family from...one of the flyover states... looked on with a mix of awe of the big city and frustration that this never happens at the Dairy Queen on Main street in thier town. The session ended, people took pictures with Ferry (including a ultra-cute young lady named Crystal who flew up from Miami just to catch the in-store so she could meet him) everyone who wanted to, got to tell Ferry they loved him and...boom he was off to FUR nightclub in NE to spin all night. When we got to FUR the place was packed. It took us 20 minutes of futile effort to push through the club to get to the VIP section.
Allen, Ferry's manager, had us up in Ferry's private suite with big bottles of champange overlookig the horde of rolling Ferry fans. When Ferry and company left to spin; my wife, Anna of iKY, my best friend and I, had the spot to ourselves. Just us...about 10g in champange and amazing beats bouncing off all the walls of the small private room with a view of the madness. I could see Dave down in the masses, bouncing up and down lost in the moment, others from our lists were there too, having a blast. The set was nothing short of amazing; the beats were huge and he would hold back just enough to make you crazy when he would drop in with some mad shit... When I was pulling into my driveway the birds were chirping...which is never a good thing when you have young children. I want to thank iKY, Scion and the staff of Commander Salamander for making it a great time for everyone.---- LU23 ((((PICS TO BE POSTED MONDAY))))
